When I launched Earthlog: My Not So Normal Sixth Grade Year, I knew the writing would be the fun part. But getting the book into readers’ hands—that’s a whole different challenge, especially when you don’t have a huge social following or a big (or really, any) marketing budget.
Like many indie authors, I’m figuring it out one step at a time. I leaned into what I could do: I used MidJourney to create a five-day countdown video series to introduce the characters and celebrate the launch on June 26. They’re far from slick studio productions—but they’re creative, personal, and true to the spirit of the book.
If you’re curious, I’ve embedded a few of the videos below (from Instagram and Facebook). Every share, comment, or review helps get Earthlog into the hands of readers who might need a story about belonging, identity, and the weird joy of middle school life with aliens.
